Reiner Braun is Director of the International Peace Bureau, the oldest world-wide umbrella organization of peace groups in the world. We discuss the speech given the night before by Vladimir Putin, who is holding a referendum to incorporate the occupied territories of Ukraine into Russia, and who has warned that attacks on the Russian homeland (which would include those portions of Ukraine) will meet with nuclear weapons. Braun sees negotiations as the only peaceable solution. Both he and Metta agree that there is a need to redesign the institutions of world order, since the current situation shows that the previous liberal order has been broken.
